  1. Is VET in Schools an extra program on top of my VCE/VCAL studies?
    No. Your VET in Schools program is part of the VCE or VCAL and will be one of your elective choices.

  2. How many VCE/VCAL units do I get for my VET program?
    Each course is different and you will need to consult with your secondary college VET coordinator.

  3. How will I be assessed for my VET in Schools studies?
    Your teachers will use a range of assessment tasks to ensure you have achieved competency, eg. folio of work, visual diary, skills demonstration and research reports.

  4. What if I change my mind about this career path and drop out?
    You will receive a Statement of Attainment for completed modules/units, many of which are relevant to a range of courses.

  5. Will the program help me find a job?
    About 38% of students who complete VET in Schools programs gain employment. However, there is not a specific job referral service.

  6. When do I have to make a decision about doing a VET in Schools program?
    There are taster programs and information briefings conducted at Brougham in July/August and you will apply as part of your VCE/VCAL selection. Check with your VET/VCAL co-ordinator for specific dates for your secondary college.

  7. Are all the programs offered part of the VCE or VCAL?
    Yes. Nationally accredited VET programs will provide block credit toward the VCE or VCAL.

  8. Does a VET in Schools program help me if I want to go on to further study?
    Yes, 51% of students go on to TAFE and/or University. The subjects you do in your VET in Schools program may give you credits to other courses, either at Brougham or other training institutes..

  9. Are all VET in Schools programs two years?
    Yes. All of Brougham's current VET programs are undertaken over 2 years.

  10. Do I have to select compatible VCE/VCAL subjects that relate to my VET program?
    It depends. Consult the VET Coordinator from your secondary college for recommendations.
